Ultros is a free market-board companion tool for Final Fantasy XIV. This page explains what data the site handles, why, and what your choices are. We try to keep it minimal: almost everything on Ultros works without an account.
Data we receive automatically
Like every website, our servers and our content delivery network (Cloudflare) process your IP address and browser information (user agent) to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. Cloudflare also tells us which country a request came from; we use that only to pick a sensible default game region and language for you. We do not use this information to identify you or build a profile of you.
Cookies and preferences
Ultros sets first-party cookies to remember your preferences: interface language, home world and default price region, theme, sidebar state, crafter settings, and whether you have hidden ads. If you log in, one additional cookie holds your encrypted login session. None of these are used for tracking. The full list is in our cookie policy:
Discord login and your account
Creating an account is optional and happens through Discord (OAuth2) using only the minimal "identify" scope. We receive your Discord user ID, username, and avatar, and we store the ID and username. Your Discord access token is kept in an encrypted, HTTP-only cookie in your browser — we never see your Discord password or email address. Logging out deletes the cookie and revokes the token with Discord.
If you use account features, we store the data you create, linked to your Discord ID: claimed FFXIV characters and retainers, item lists (including lists you share with others), price alerts, and notification settings. If you point an alert at Discord or enable browser push notifications, we also store the delivery destination (the Discord channel or the push subscription).
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are used and how the site performs. Google sets its own cookies and receives usage data such as the pages you visit, your browser type, and your approximate location.
How Google uses data from sites that use its services
Advertising (Google AdSense)
Ultros shows ads through Google AdSense to cover server costs. Google and its partners use third-party advertising cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and — depending on your Google settings — personalize them. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your Google ad settings, and you can hide ads entirely on the Ultros settings page.
Error reporting
When the site crashes or hits a bug, an error report is sent to our error-tracking service (GlitchTip, via the Sentry SDK). Reports contain technical details: the error itself, the page URL, your browser and operating system (user agent), interface language, and guessed game region. We configure the SDK not to attach personal information such as your IP address to reports, and we use them only to find and fix bugs.
Market data
Prices, listings, sale history, and retainer names shown across Ultros are public market-board data from Final Fantasy XIV, provided by Universalis. They come from the game, not from Ultros users, and are not connected to site accounts.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell your personal data. It is shared only with the service providers named above (Cloudflare, Google, and our error-tracking service), and only as far as needed to run the site.
Data retention and deletion
Account data is kept for as long as you keep your account. If you want your Discord-linked data (characters, retainers, lists, alerts) deleted, contact us and we will remove it. Preference cookies live in your browser and you can clear them at any time.
